The Barbri MBE compares you to how others score on the Barbri simulated MBE. I ask for scheduling purposes. But, the authors of the Barbri questions also have a different writing style than the authors of the MBE. People say BarBri questions are harder than the real MBE, but I don't think that's true. Spend time on the stuff that you have a mental block on or have difficulty with (for me I could never seem to get which crimes merged, or get con law restriction of speech questions right). I would absolutely recommend the Kaplan red book (which I hear is now purple). Others are not well written at all or overly difficult and nuanced. The bar exam is a hard test and it tests the nuances of the law. My friends in barbri are all complaining that the questions got harder recently, but I gather that Themis doesn't do this - just loads a lot more question on you (at least in my schedule). There were a few sets last year that almost seemed designed to instill a certain amount of panic lol. Would I have passed without this other material? Sometimes the right answer choice isn’t clear or explanations are incorrect. All this really means is that the MBE portion of the exam is very important to your overall score in almost all U.S. states, and that many people who fail the bar exam do so by just a few points. Prob gonna use the Barbri Conviser as my main source of reference. It may be free, but it probably still isn't worth it. Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life. You will feel more confident and prepared for the bar exam. That way you can start on the mixed sets sooner. They are different than questions that a course makes up as they reflect the style and level of difficulty of the questions you can expect to see on the bar exam. Second, while I found that the essay questions were excellent (graders are extremely harsh, but that is a good thing), and the MBE questions were decent, I found it helpful to supplement Themis' material with other material. & I probably completed about ~55% of the course the second time (solely MBE questions, essays, graded essays, exams) - the lectures make up literally nearly 50% of the course. Sometimes the manufactured questions are too easy. Ask questions, seek advice, post outlines, etc. The second time I took it I'm not sure what my score was because MA doesn't release them if you pass but on practice sets I was getting 65% - 74% correct. Not 85% on the real deal. I also subsidized the MBE with Emanuel's strategies and tactics for the MBE. Overall though, I looked at the barbri stuff and Themis questions at least resemble the real mbe.
